The Piano Studio of Amanda Schafer





Amanda York Schafer has taught piano to students of all ages and levels for twenty years.  She was a member of the music faculty at Campbell University as an instructor and collaborative pianist from 2004 to 2020. She has also served on the faculty at Fayetteville State University and the Fayetteville School of Music.  She maintains a private studio in Liberty, MO.  Ms. Schafer received her Master's Degree in Piano Performance from Ball State University in Indiana. She holds the Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Peace College, where she was awarded the W. Trent Ragland Fund for International Study and Travel in 1998 to study at the Hochschule für Musik, "Mozarteum," in Salzburg, Austria. Post-graduate studies include master classes with Walter Hautzig and John O'Conor. 

Ms. Schafer has served as a board member of the Fayetteville Piano Teachers Association.  She is also an active member of the Kansas City Music Teachers Association, the Music Teachers National Association, and Federated Music Teachers.  She is in demand as an adjudicator for competitions.

Ms. Schafer accepts students ages five and up who are enthusiastic about their musical studies.  She encourages her students to participate in a variety of recitals, festivals, and competitions.  Her students have received Superior ratings from the annual NCMTA Piano Festival, NFMC, and Highest Honors with Distinction from the Royal Conservatory of Music Examinations. She has prepared students for college music auditions with a 100% success rate.

In addition to her teaching curriculum, Ms. Schafer maintains an active concert schedule.  She is a regular collaborator in two-piano music and with other soloists.  Her performance of Betty Wishart's Variations on Shenandoah was recently featured on Ellensburg Radio's Gathering Her Notes. 

When she is not engaged in teaching, Ms. Schafer enjoys reading, yoga, volunteering for various animal welfare groups, and maintaining her rose garden.
